Spiritual Promptings
This afternoon after I took my brother out to lunch I called him. The first thing out of my mouth was, "Is anything wrong? Did anything happen to you this morning?" He sounded kind of confused (which made me feel better at first) and asked me why I was asking. I told him what happened to me this morning, and he said, "That's funny, because I was actually up at 6:30 this morning. I was sort of having an anxiety attack." I asked him what was wrong, and he said he was tired of waiting to leave on his mission, and he was ready to leave now, but he was fine once he talked to Laura.
So in other words, if I had followed the prompting, he could have said, "I was anxious, but I was fine once Angela called me." I feel horrible for not acting on this prompting. This is the sort of inspiration I pray for morning and night, and I didn't heed it for fear of sounding crazy. I could have started my day helping someone out, but I really just lost sleep over nothing. On the bright side, though, I have learned an important lesson in obeying the Spirit when I'm prompted. It was good that I correctly identified and understood what I was being told to do, but it was bad that I wasn't confident enough to act on it. From now on, I'm just going to leap forward with faith. So even though I was sort of rebuked this afternoon, it was pretty cool that I was tutored by the Holy Ghost in a very obvious way today. I wouldn't have gotten that if I hadn't eventually called him to find out what was up. And I got to tell him that the Spirit was TRYING to take care of him, I just wasn't cooperating. That self-doubt again, people. You see what it does?
I went back to replace my pants today, and Goody's decided to rub some salt in my wound by raising the price on the pants by five dollars... I bought the stupid pants anyway because I loved them so much... I wore the old ones around today for fun, and I laughed at my mom, "Remember when you told me right before I left not to walk on the back of them?" She said, "Yeah, but I forgot to remind you not to fall on the front of them!"
